Sold Puffy, but make it like lace. Find somewhere to put a bunch of diamonds. That’s the ticket. I can’t begin to imagine the brief for the jewellery designer who dreamed up this astonishing bracelet. Mariner links, also known as “anchor” links were first made to secure the heavy and vital anchor aboard seafaring vessels. This chain link was co-opted for jewellery during the Victorian Era as it really appealed to the Victorian affection for symbolism (also it’s a very cool looking link). Oversized, chunky mariner link bracelets were championed by Gucci in the 2000s, this bracelet followed their lead but with an inventive and organic twist on the bold puffy links. By making them out of lacy filigree it really turns the “safe and secure” motif on it’s head – in such a divine way! Manufacture Modelled in 9ct yellow and white gold, hallmarked 375 for 9ct gold to the back of one of the white gold links. The “puffy” mariner links are modelled in lace-like filigree, connected by white gold links set with natural diamonds. The gemstones have been verified by an independent gemologist as natural, earth mined diamonds. They are round brilliant cut with six stones grain set in a line to the centre of each white gold link. The combined carat weight is approximately 0.30ct. The mariner links are 17.62mm long, 11.81mm wide and 3.67mm thick. The bracelet closes with an invisible clasp and safety catch, integrated into one of the white gold links. This gives the bracelet a luxurious, seamless appearance. To find the clasp first identify the two mariner links that don’t ave the internal bulges – the white gold link between them is the clasp. Size 19.5cm / 7 3/4″ long. Weighs 12 grams. Condition As new. Ready for immediate wear. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Aurelia | Secret Histories Antique & Vintage Jewellery (@secret_histories)
