Summer Garden : Vintage Faceted and Engraved 18ct Gold Band circa 1950

A faceted heavyweight band in 18ct yellow gold dating to the middle of the 20th Century. It is hand engraved with a sunburst visible from the side profile and scrolling foliate designs on the top facets. The makers mark appears to be the knot used by Joseph Lawrence of Melbourne . Manufacture  A solid 18ct yellow gold engraved band, stamped 18ct to the inside of the band, with a gently worn makers mark that resembles a knot in a heart shape, I suspect this is the mid 20th Century updated hallmark used by Joseph Lawrence of Melbourne who traded from 1894 – 1980 (my books only show their earlier “pretzel shaped” knot hallmark). The gold fineness has been verified by XRF test. The band is faceted along the top with slightly convex shoulders. It has been hand engraved with a sunburst design on both sides and scrolling leafy pattern in each of the 12 facets. The engraving on the top facets has gently softened with wear. The ring is 3.23mm wide. Sits 2mm high on the finger. Weighs 3.77 grams.
