Transcendent : Victorian / Edwardian Era Ruby and Diamond Flush Set Ring in Buttery 18ct Gold circa 1900

This classic Victorian / Edwardian Era gem-set band has alternating old cut diamonds and rubies set into star and diamond shapes across the face of the ring. Rings in this style were formerly known as “gypsy” rings – they are unisex in style and very easy to wear. The combination of rubies and diamonds is a romantic pairing found through the ages: rubies represent passionate love and diamonds are for infinity/ forever. The addition of celestial motifs describes a love that transcends time and space. Manufacture: Handmade in 18ct rose gold, stamped 18ct to the inside of the band, the gold fineness has been verified by XRF test. Old cut natural diamonds and a plump oval cut ruby is flush set into the face of the band. The diamonds are bead set in diamond shapes and the ruby is set into a star. The stones are flush set with the surface of the band in the “gypsy” style. All gemstones have been verified as natural earth mined gemstones by an independent gemologist. The ruby is a rich and deep pinkish red hue often referred to as “pigeon blood”, it measures 4.5mm x 4mm – about 1/3 carat. The delightfully wonky old cut diamonds measure approximately 3.7mm x 3.4mm each. The face of the ring is 6.09mm wide, tapering gently to 3.5mm at the back of the band. Sits 1.62mm high on the finger. Weighs 3.75 grams. Size: (Aus/UK) R (USA) 8.75 (International) 58.5 Somewhat resizable. Please get in touch for a quote or to ascertain if it can be sized to your requirements. Condition: Excellent antique condition. Under magnification you can see that the ruby has some wear to the table facet edges. This is not visible to the naked eye, but mentioned here for transparency. If you look very closely you will notice that the stones have been set slightly unevenly, I don’t think this is noticeable on the hand, but you’ll know if this is something that will bug you (I find it charming). Ready for immediate and everyday wear. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Aurelia | Secret Histories (@secret_histories)
