Fireworks : Vintage Deep Blue Sapphire with a Double Diamond Halo in 18ct Gold circa 1960

Deep rich navy blue with a velvety finish and an otherworldly gleam is how I would describe the large natural blue sapphire at the heart of this cosmic ring. Surrounding the night sky sapphire is a double open halo of brilliant cut diamonds, each one quite separate from it’s neighbour and arranged in two tiers – the effect is similar to a shell firework, only it never fades from view. Manufacture  Modelled in 18ct gold, with a white gold face and yellow gold shank, the ring is stamped 750 to the inside of the band. The gold purity has been verified by XRF test. At the centre of the ring is an oval cut deep blue natural sapphire measuring 7.5mm x 5.58mm x 3.3mm – approximately 1 carat. Surrounding the sapphire are 24 x 1.5mm brilliant cut diamonds, each in an individual 4 clawed setting, with a combined weight of 0.36 carat. The gemstones have been verified by an independent gemologist as natural earth mined gems. The shank is pinched at the shoulders, widening to 3.2mm at the back of the band.
