Sold This antique silver cuff or bangle is finely hand engraved with acanthus leaves – a classical symbol used since the 5th Century and synonymous with the Arts during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The acanthus leaf motif was employed in architecture, carpentry, textiles, and of course jewellery. It was a particular favourite of William Morris and his ilk. Manufacture: Handmade in sterling silver. There are no hallmarks present, the metal fineness has been verified by XRF test. The remains of gilding can be found inside the bangle. The bangle is oval in shape, it opens with a hinge on one side and integrated clasp. The wide silver surface is engraved on one side and plain on the other – you may wear either face up. The oval shape of the bangle prevents it from rotating on the wrist. The bangle is 18.11mm wide. It has an inner circumference of 17cm – best suited to a 16.5cm and under wrist. Weighs 23.15 grams. Condition: Excellent antique condition, no faults to note. Ready for immediate wear.
