Sold In the 17th Century Italian theatre Commedia Dell’arte, Harlequin was the primary comic figure. He was instantly recognisable by his brightly multi-coloured checkered costume, and has lent his name to everything joyful and multi-hued ever since. Art Deco gemstone bracelets included. This harlequin bracelet dates to the 1920s. It is a is a medley of autumn hues – the nine natural gemstones include varieties of garnet and zircon, beryl, spinel and quartz. It’s warm and glittery with an allure like an open wood fire. Absolutely one of a kind. Manufacture: Modelled in 9ct yellow gold. There are no hallmarks present, the gold fineness has been verified by XRF test. The cushion cut and emerald cut gemstones are held in clawed coronet settings with a solid under-rail. Each gemstone is hinged to the next for fluidity of movement. The bracelet closes with a box clasp and safety catch. The gemstones are graduated in size, from the largest almandine garnet at centre measuring 11.5mm x 7.65mm, to the smallest (another almandine garnet) at 6.59mm x 5.3mm. Beginning with the small garnet the gemstones are: almandine garnet, green (metamict) zircon, orange brown tourmaline, pale citrine quartz, almandine garnet, yelllowish green (metamict) zircon, colourless (goshenite) beryl, purple spinel and green (metamict) zircon. All of the stones have been verified by an independent gemologist as natural gemstones. Size: 16.3cm (6 3/8″) long. A snug fit is recommended. This bracelet is designed to be worn close to the wrist like a watch band so that the stones stay on top of your wrist. Weighs 10 grams. Condition: Excellent antique condition, no faults to note.
