Sold A delicately textured sterling silver Albertina fob chain bracelet from the Victorian era. Originally a short ladies watch chain, these decorative treasures are now worn as ladies bracelets. This Albertina features a silver ball covered in foliate details of fern fronds unfolding, a ribbed rolo link chain, a swivel dog clip and swivel t-bar with British hallmarks for 1889. The bauble at the centre is covered in fernlike details, with the faint whisper of rose gold gilding on the smooth surfaces. Both the dog clip and t-bar swivel, features that made it much more functional for its original purpose as a watch chain. I find rolling the t-bar between my fingers a particularly satisfying tactile experience – somewhat of an adult fidget soother. The bauble stays at the top of the wrist thanks to the gravitational pull of the t-bar. Manufacture: Modelled in sterling silver throughout, British hallmarks of the lion passant and gothic date letter p for 1889 can be found on the t-bar. The chain fastens at 20.5cm (8″) long. Weighs 7.8 grams. Condition: In good antique condition. There is some wear evident on the loop of the dog clip and one of the link s near the t-bar, but all are in good wearable condition. Ready for immediate wear.
