Tyrian Velvet : Art Deco Amethyst Screw-back Earrings in Sterling Silver Circa 1920

Sold Fascinating deep Tyrian purple amethysts whisper of magic. Set into handmade sterling silver screw back mounts with the distinctive silver border popular in silver jewellery of the early 20th Century. These would have looked fantastic with the close cropped hairdo’s of 1920s flappers – a feminine sparkle that doesn’t interfere with a roaring good time. Manufacture:  Handmade in Sterling silver – the earrings are marked silver to the back of the screws, the metal fineness has been verified by XRF test. The deep purple round faceted stones have been verified by an independent gemologist as natural amethyst. Each stone measures approximately 11.7mm in diameter – 4.4 carats. The gemstones are set in silver rub-over bezels with a decorative border. They fasten with screw-back fittings. The earrings measure 12.42mm x 12.42mm. Weigh 4.73 grams (pair).
