A truly delightful and romantic strand of antique 1920s cultured Akoya saltwater pearls strung in the Edwardian style and fastening with a 9ct yellow gold clasp set with a pink garnet. This collar length strand of semi-baroque graduated pearls has a creamy colour and high lustre. It measures 41cm / 16″ long. Strands like this were traditionally gifted to brides on their wedding day, and worn with reverence on the days after. A classic and romantic addition to your jewellery wardrobe. Manufacture: Individually hand knotted on silk, the pearls are arranged with the largest 6.58mm diameter pearl at the centre, smoothly graduating in size to the smallest pearls at 3.6mm at the clasp. This pearl strand fastens with an antique filigree pearl clasp in 9ct gold set with a pink garnet and small beads. The clasp is marked with the old 9ct mark to the reverse. The pearls are semi-baroque in shape – not quite round but not far off either. They exhibit a high lustre and have the creamy colour characteristic of vintage Akoya pearls. They have been confirmed as cultured Japanese Akoya saltwater pearls by specialist pearl laboratory GSL. The strand measures collar length at 41cm / 16″ Weighs 10.46 grams. Condition: Excellent antique condition, no faults to note.
